Rowan House is located in Carrick Castle, Lochgoilhead, a small village on the shores of Loch Goil, situated in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Although it feels like you are in another world, Glasgow International Airport is only 80 minutes away and Edinburgh about 2.5 hours. Whether you are looking for a weekend away or exploring Scotland, Rowan House is the perfect place for you to relax and unwind.

ROWAN COTTAGE (self-catering)

BED & BREAKFAST
There are three bed & breakfast rooms in the main house: two double rooms with the beautiful loch views (one ensuite and one with private bathroom) and on the ground floor, a twin room with ensuite. Find out more about our bed & breakfast bedrooms here.

Rowan House is the perfect place to relax, unwind and recharge - whatever that means for you. There are plenty of walks for all levels including along the loch, up the hills and through ancient woodland - and you can rest and reflect with a cup of tea by the water’s edge. If you are feeling energetic you can workout in the fresh air on our Arm & Pedal Bicycle and Airwalker situated in the shore garden- while taking in the view! You can also take advantage of the loch with motorboats to hire for cruising or fishing, and kayaks, canoes and paddle-boards. You can relax and recharge with a one to one Reiki session.

SEE & DO
Walking & Climbing
The area is famous for its walking opportunities with many different habitats and levels. The Cowal Way runs through Lochgoilhead. For rock climbing and 'one of the most impressive summits in the Southern Highlands, 'The Cobbler' (Ben Arthur) is accessed from nearby Arrochar.
Cormonachan Woodlands
Accessible walks through ancient Atlantic oak and hazel woodlands with oaks of 300 years or more and beautiful wild flowers. The woodlands are home to red squirrels, pine marten and deer. Volunteering opportunities. www.cormonachan-woodlands.co.uk
Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park
Home to 21 Munros, 19 Corbetts and 22 large lochs, the area is rich in history, wildlife and stunningly beautiful landscape with much to explore.
Boating

Fishing
A popular fishing spot, the loch has Cod and Pollack all year round. The River Goil has salmon and sea trout and day permits can be purchased in the Post Office at Lochgoilhead.

COMING FROM THE SOUTH

Take the A82 which runs alongside Loch Lomond to Tarbet

At Tarbet, bear left and drive through Arrochar on the A83 to Rest and Be Thankful

Turn left, B828, signposted Lochgoilhead / Drimsynie Holiday Village. Follow the brown sign to Rowan House B&B.

At the next junction bear left for Lochgoilhead / Drimsynie Holiday Village and Rowan House B&B.

Just before the humpback bridge which takes you into Lochgoilhead, Take a right, following signs for Carrick Castle and Rowan House B&B .

Follow the road, with Drimsynie Holiday Village on your right and the waters of the loch on your left.

Continue up the hill beyond the Holiday Village and bear left.

Follow this road for approx 5 miles passing the Ardroy Education Centre, the MOD, Loch Goil Cruisers and the Boat Shed Cafe

At the sign for Carrick Castle (on your left), Rowan House is the blue house immediately on your right. There is ample parking.

At Inverary turn left to the Old Military Road (A83) through Cairndow

Take a left on to the B839 signposted Lochgoilhead / Drimsynie Hotel and Holiday Village

Continue towards Lochgoilhead through Hell's Glen. Follow signs to Rowan House B&B.

Just before the bridge into Lochgoilhead, take a right following signs to Carrick Castle and Rowan House B&B.
