| ACTIVITIES - There's so
much to see and do in the area....
|
|
| If History is your
interest -
There's the Highland Folk Museum at
Kingussie and Newtonmore, where you'll find a reconstructed 18th century
township and a 19th century working croft. Also at Newtonmore is the Clan
Macpherson Museum. On the outskirts of Kingussie is the old fortified
ruins of Ruthven barracks, last occupied in 1745 by the Jacobites on
their way to Culloden.
Choose a day trip to one of the
magnificent and unique Scottish castles - for example Blair Atholl,
Cawdor, Urquhart, Brodie, Dunrobin or Inverlochy are all within easy
reach. - Or visit the battlefield at Culloden, site of the last battle
fought in Great Britain and Fort George, the largest fortress built in
Europe in the 18th century, now headquarters of the Royal Highland
Regiment and a military museum.
